Lucie Rääf

I am an artist based in southern Sweden, inspired by nature’s light, colours, and rhythms.

Several family members introduced me to art early in life, and I studied in two Nordic countries.

Professor Arne Isacsson has been a key influence on my watercolour work.

I work primarily with watercolour and acrylic, using authentic pigments. The interplay of pigment, paper, and water is central to my process. Nature’s forms, rhythms, and patterns constantly inspire my paintings.

Since the 1980s, I have exhibited across Europe, and my works are represented in schools, companies, and the Church of Sweden.

The landscape is my body  (NAT Art Residence - 10/2025)

In the narrow caves of the mountains, warmth and excitement rise within me.

The landscape flows into my body. Ochre and ultramarine, born of earth and sea, seep beneath my skin, into the depths of my soul. The colors are at once distant and intimate, infinite yet near.

I long to tumble into the moist sand by the sea. The waves enfold me like a beloved, releasing my soul and my pigments. I open my eyes and feel the landscape breathing within me.
