What has taken by the sandpaper (Traces - 10/2021)

The work arose intuitively from the proposal of Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo during 2021 with weekly meetings remotely that I shared with artists from various disciplines and countries.

During the process I tried to make changes in my doing. I used as a support the sheets of emery paper that were my new canvas, and I experimented with tools from my daily habitat such as the hot water bottle and kitchen cutlery that connected the two-dimensionality of painting with actions of my own body.

I arrived without proposing a different spatiality, beyond the plane to which I was accustomed. Actions such as painting both sides, cutting and rearranging leaves gave rise to a new reading generated by the book format. And when making the recording on video, the sound took precedence, the emery sheets hidden under the pigment printed a new figure giving a new meaning to the painting, almost taking it towards a more alive state, towards a new drift of this/these roadmap/s.
