Graciela Cassel
Graciela Cassel was born in Argentina and currently lives in New York.
She earned an MA in Studio Art from New York University and received an MFA from School of Visual Arts.
Cassel recently presented her installations at Spring Break (2017)Museo del Barrio (2018); Sotheby’s(2018); Clemente Center, (2019), Bienal del Sur(2019, BRAC(2019), Varis Center at Urban Glass Gallery (2020); and currently has work on view at the Queens Botanical Garden, residency SM Proart(2021)
Her videos received international awards and were screened in more than forty international festivals.
Her films received the Queens Arts Fund in 2016 and in 2020. Citylife II best Director short film in 2021 from Barcelona International Film Awards, Spain. In 2019 Citytlife II recently received: Best Experimental Picture and Best Sound design awards. Oceans, Best Female Director 2021, Barcelona International film Festival, 2021 commissioned for IAMSTRAIGHTFOWARD, Miami Art Basel
Oracle at the Entrance of Altamira Cave and The Hundred Wishes (NAT Art Residence - Artists in the Country of Altamira - 07/2022)
This Project was developed in a magical space, full of meanings due to the fact that we are in Altamira, a prehistoric wonder. My presentation “Oracle at the Entrance of Altamira Cave and The Hundred Wishes” at the Altamira Museum involved the participation of visitors in a collective experience in which each participant developed a unique connection with the site of Altamira, to express their own wishes. The visitors walked inside a circle seeking a connection with the past, present and future, thus giving the offering of their wishes to the universe. Adults and children shared their desires with exquisite sensitivity and genuineness. Altamira enhanced the strength of the visitor's desires, and at the same time witnessed this amazing experience. The project culminated in an intense human connection, full of playfulness and spirituality.
