The Illusion of Control (Traces - 09/2021)

Life cannot be controlled. Just the idea of not having our destiny under control generates us anguish, emptiness, anxiety. Nobody imagined a global pandemic in 2020. Nobody imagined that our plans and priorities would change. We do not control anything, neither what happened in our lives in the past nor what is going to happen in the future. We are part of a universe in which everything is in constant movement, in which there is no notion of control. This is a human idea and there is no other wise being on the planet to judge us. So that illusion continues and we hold on to it. The stories of our lives are a constant example of the need to maintain control. So that those lives have meaning at least in front of our eyes. So that those lives are finally controlled, even if it is only an illusion.
