Loop of Grace (NAT Art Residence 05/2023)

The gathering

Exalt

Opening their eyes to the kiss of a new day

The work of stars

Keepers of the light

Scattering seeds from heaven

Waking in the dawn of the morning

Growing from a dark place

Earth to seed and then to flower

According to its nature

On the shortness of life

A breeze moves through

They move in silence. They move in song

Close your eyes and listen with your heart

Playing in the wind

They sing and dance

Swinging, shivering, swaying

They greet me as a friend, bowing inviting me in

Every one is a poem

For her

The starry way

Mary’s gold

All is gift

For us

The generosity of Creation

Among the Trees of the Forest (Traces - 04/2021)

Tree of Life

Encircling rings of wisdom contain the pattern of the cosmos

Fingerprints and starlight

The topography of Heaven

We stumble along on our earthly sojourn

Deep roots cradling clumsy feet

Sprawling branches teach us to reach upwards towards eternity

Let us be like the trees turning towards the Light

Yielding and abiding

Until we reach Home

Exult

I bend down to caress the platform of wood

And I am lost in the winding rings, crags, and tunnels

A foreign landscape that I wish to know

Evidence of its once thriving being

My hands search across the wood, open and exposed

Tracing its patterns with my fingers

Feeling the life within

Not vanquished but only dormant

Hidden beneath the soil

Once a majestic canopy

Dancing joyously in the wind

Full of light and wisdom

Feeding us with freshness and morning dew

Now it rests close to the earth

Rot sets in

The fate of all creatures

And yet new life spring from the old

White blossoms ring its crown

It again dances.
