“I work with images, memories and feelings that linger in my mind after being in nature, in the attempt to find an equilibrium between knowledge and Intuition”.

Voices in Nature (Art in the Origin - 05/2022)

This project was carried out in Cantabria during the Art in the Origin seminar.

For five days I worked outdoors, in nature, with the intensity that the weather and the environment marked me.

The visit to the rock caves and the work in situ was decisive when choosing the video as a means to express what I was feeling during those days.

My interest was always focused on nature and our relationship with it. Now the reflection about the women and men who inhabited those primitive caves and us was added.

In that imaginary I saw those women singing while they worked; and I thought of women because they are the ones who, many times, did the most silent and repetitive tasks in the house. Cooking, sewing, taking care of children. Many of them accompanied each other singing or listening to music.

I recorded these images with my cell phone as the only ally and witness. While I was drawing the silk fabrics I sang these songs, chosen based on personal memories, improvising with the freedom that one feels when singing.

Music is a very old feeling. It connects us with each other in a magical way, while being a unique feeling for each individual.

The need to express oneself remains intact through the centuries.

Soft gentle Wind, kind warm Sun -

I am in Nature.

The Sea - the Woods -

She is here. I can feel her energy.

Who is She? Who am I?

Our hearts open and Sing together.

We cry ancient tears that dissolve in the water.

A shiver runs through my spine -

Nature whispers our names -

Now we are One.

She Sings beneath the roaring of the Sea -

and when she sings they become one Soul -

for they are Nature.
