Marcela Spencer

Marcela Pupo y Spencer Prego

I was born on September 20, 1976. I grew up in a family of artists and art teachers.

Since I was two years old I was always in contact with art, drawing, painting and sculpting in clay.

I studied Visual Arts with specialization in printmaking.

I did several courses and workshops on Engraving and Lithography in Argentina and at the Tamarind Institute in the United States.

I participated in group exhibitions as well as individual.

Currently I work in Museography and as a teacher in my own studio, the same studio my parents ran and which I attended from my early childhood.

I was never in a cloud
(Until October 1, 2019) (Art in the Origin - 2019 / OdA Fellowship - 2019)

I found in Cantabria a cloud thread that transforms into a line when I´d like to. Line straight and clean, although many times, entangled as a stormy cloud.
I untangle the cloud and tangle it again. I draw the stone and the forest with it in a merged hug until it is a single body. Stone, thread, line, all of them build my cloud.
My cloud tense and interweave my feeling. I curl it into a ball, inhabit it and return like this, to my origin.
