Isa Duarte

Isa Duarte (Córdoba, Argentina - 1971). Interdisciplinary artist.

Expanded graphics are the main driving force of my creations and enhance my artistic practice, measured by action art as a laboratory and reflection space.

Inhabiting the intersection of experimental languages, obtaining records that will later be transformed into visual essays, performative acts of exploration, poetic gestures that I seek to translate into various materialities, techniques and supports.

I participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions at the national and international level; As well as salons, competitions and biennials, receiving mentions and awards, my work is part of private collections and museums.

Demonstrate the present as debtor of an original drive.

The depth of human feelings: birth and death, spirituality, the time that delimits them, silence and sounds.

Cycles of transformations where repetition, recurrence, fragment and details are meeting spaces.

Find the pattern. Repeat until dissolved. Testimony of evil.

Time for reconfiguration. Testimony of a good.

Beauty and estrangement typical of what is decomposed and reorganized. A reminder of our changes, resilience and transformations.

Ritual Chant - Axis Mundi (NAT Art Residence - 10/2023)

We never stop exploring to return to the place where we started and see each other for the first time. “What my eyes saw was simultaneous, what I will transcribe, successive.”

Axis Mundi: vertical axis central point, sacred place in your own body. Space that works as a starting point.

The language of bones

I already gave birth.

Closer to wearing out my bones

I am in the middle of my landscape

deep image

out of focus

imprecise

diffuse

I can imagine myself

rediscovering my own voice,

my deity.

We are what we can sing

In the bones of my bones

a voice dances, your voice dances

so deep, older

gray layer

I guess you

I guess myself

you are here, you are in me.

For so long I slept,

you in my mouth and I sang

In the bones of my bones

I read your dance, I read my dream

I read your dream, you read mine

you in my blood and I wrote.

Here I am, here I have arrived

so that more voices can come,

it began to move

here I am, here I have arrived

here I am, here I arrived,

only the sound of my voice

can be heard in the air.

Manifesting the Subtle

Ceremonial ornaments worn by a body. Ritual cast of jewelry.

The early impulse of humans to adorn themselves with objects around the body is one of humanity's oldest symbols of expression.

The importance of the talisman, amulet or jewel lies in the fact that it adorns and surrounds a specific region of the body in intimate connection, granting it a specific worldview and sacredness.

A necklace resting on the chest, protecting the heart, the area closest to the soul...

Talking Drums

Ritual chant. We are talking drums, cosmogony of sound.

Explore singing, sound, movement, dance, as fields of access to that expanded altered consciousness, a forceful bodily experience.

At every moment of our existence we are surrounded by sound and vibration. Music, among all the arts, why did it decide not to be seen? It actually has a hypnotic effect.

Opening new doors of perception and worldviews that are rooted in the most instinctive.
